Dietect estimates what is on your plate from a photograph, so a meal takes a few seconds to record instead of a few minutes of searching. Every figure is an estimate you can change.
Not released yet. Dietect is in testing. There is no Play Store listing to link to, so this page does not pretend otherwise. Ask to be told when it is available.
What it does

A photograph, then a correction
Point the camera at the plate. You see the photograph before it is sent, and the app nudges you towards one it can actually read. What comes back is a list of foods and portions you can edit.

Barcodes and search
Scan a barcode or search by name. Figures come from USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts, used under their licences. When a barcode is not in the database, the app says so rather than claiming the lookup failed.

Your diary stays on your phone
Meals are stored on the device, not on our servers. That means changing phones does not bring your history with it — a trade-off we would rather state than hide.

Targets with a floor
Set a target and the app will not let it fall to a level it considers unsafe, whatever the arithmetic suggests.

Reminders, not streaks
Optional nudges at your mealtimes and a weekly recap. There is no streak to break and nothing is gamified. One switch turns it all off.

Photographs are not kept
A photograph is sent to be analysed and is not stored by us afterwards. The privacy policy sets out exactly who processes it.
Dietect is not a medical device. The figures it shows are estimates, not measurements, and nothing in the app is medical advice. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are treating an eating disorder, talk to a qualified professional before changing what you eat.
